Abstract: Determinar el efecto antibacteriano del aceite esencial de Congona “Peperomia Inaequalifolia” sobre “Streptococcus Mutans ATCC 35668.” Metodología: El estudio fue comparativo y experimental, la muestra estuvo constituido por un total de 100 placas Petri con “Streptococcus Mutans ATCC35668” y aceite esencial de “Peperomia Inaequalifolia” al 25%,50%,75%,100% el grupo control fue de Clorhexidina al 2%. Resultados: El aceite esencial de la congona “Peperomia Inaequalifolia” posee efecto antibacteriano sobre el “Streptococcus Mutans ATCC 35668” en diferentes concentraciones donde se encontró que P=0.000 en el análisis de varianza. La sensibilidad bacteriana (SB) aumenta a medida que aumenta la concentración del aceite esencial de Peperomia Inaecualifolia (congona). La concentración inhibitoria mínima (CIM) del aceite esencial de Peperomia Inaequalifolia (congona) al 75% Conclusión: El aceite esencial de la congona “Peperomia Inaequalifolia” posee efecto antibacteriano sobre el “Streptococcus Mutans ATCC 35668” y la concentración inhibitoria mínima es de 75%

To determine the antibacterial effect of the essential oil of Congona "Peperomia Inaequalifolia" on “Streptococcus Mutans ATCC35668". Methodology: The study was comparative and experimental, the sample consisted of a total of 100 Petri dishes with “Streptococcus Mutans 35668” and essential oil of “Peperomia Inaequalifolia” 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% the control group was 2% Chlorhexidine. Results: The essential oil of the congona "Peperomia Inaequalifolia" has antibacterial effect on the “Streptococcus Mutans ATCC 35668" in different concentrations where it was found that P = 0.000 in the analysis of variance. The bacterial sensitivity (SB) increases as the concentration of the essential oil of “Peperomia Inaequalifolia” (congona) increases. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the essential oil of “Peperomia Inaequalifolia” (congona) at 75%. Conclusion: The essential oil of the congona "Peperomia Inaequalifolia" has an antibacterial effect on the “Streptococcus Mutans ATCC 35668" and the minimum inhibitory concentration is 75%.
