To determine if elevated platelet distribution amplitude is a factor associated with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in adults. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A cross-sectional, analytical study was carried out. The sample consisted of 276 adult patients who met the selection criteria and who attended the outpatient clinic of the Albrecht I Hospital in Trujillo- ESSALUD in the period 2019-2022. We proceeded to measure the two study variables, non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis and elevated platelet distribution amplitude; in addition to the intervening variables. The data obtained were registered in the respective file and the statistics used was the Pearson Chi Square test to show their association; being significant if the value -p≤α= 0.05 and IC =95%, the RP and the Poisson regression analysis were also calculated. RESULTS: Statistical analysis established that elevated platelet distribution amplitude is a factor associated with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in adults (Pearson's X² = 29.594 p < 0.001); RP (IC95%) = 2.49 (1.8 – 3.43). Likewise, it was shown that the elevated platelet distribution amplitude was greater in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (16.6%) compared to healthy ones (13.0%). Finally, the Poisson regression identified that obesity (P=0.000), RP IC95%=2.721 (1.743-4.247) is the only variable that intervenes and modifies the prevalence ratio of platelet distribution amplitude in patients with non-hepatic steatosis. alcoholic RP (IC95%) =2.172(1.427- 3.306), (p=0.000). CONCLUSIONS: Elevated platelet distribution width is associated with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in adults.
