To determine if rheumatoid arthritis, type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity are risk factors for fibromyalgia in adults in a public hospital. Materials and methods: Analytical case-control study in which 88 medical records (44 cases and 44 controls) of patients over 18 years of age who were seen in the outpatient clinic of the Rheumatology service of a General Hospital were reviewed. To determine the relationship between the factors and the fibromyalgia variable, the Odds ratio statistic with its respective 95% confidence interval was used, and this relationship was also corroborated with the Pearson Chi-square bivariate analysis; statistical significance was 5% (p <0.05). Subsequently, the significant factors of the bivariate analysis were used to perform the multivariate analysis through multiple logistic regression. Results: The bivariate analysis identified rheumatoid arthritis (18.2%, p = 0.044) and obesity (29.5%, p = 0.034) as associated and risk factors for Fibromyalgia. The multivariate analysis relates that obesity is a risk factor. Conclusions: In the bivariate analysis, rheumatoid arthritis and obesity are associated and risk factors for Fibromyalgia. however, in the multivariate analysis, only the Obesity is a risk factor for Fibromyalgia. Also, the female sex is a risk factor for fibromyalgia
