In this research work, is descriptive and cross-sectional, was conducted to determine the relationship between biological risk factors related to sharp accidents in health personnel of the critical areas of the Regional Institute of Neoplastic Diseases, Trujillo 2016. The sample consisted of 40 nurses who met the criteria established, the data was collected in a questionnaire single record of sharps accidents, health professionals working at the Regional Institute of Neoplastic Diseases, Trujillo 2016, where it was evaluated the variable biological risk factors and the variable puncturing accidents. The information compiled in double entry tables that applied for the statistical analysis of the criterion independence test. According to the results obtained, it reached the following conclusions: There is a significant relationship between the nursing professional and exposure to biological risk (p = 0.00001). No significant relationship was found between the biological risk and the type of puncture accident.
