The purpose of the present thesis was the structural design of rigid pavement, flexible and articulated in the streets of the town of Calabozo – Cajamarca; for the development of it was considered a line of applied research and using the ASSTO 93 methodology, to achieve this purpose we conducted an exploration of the study area, which consisted of observing and analyzing the different conditions of the area to be investigated; with the results obtained we will be able to improve the trafficability of Calabozo’s locality. For the development of the structural design of the pavement, the reference was taken based on the different recommendations provided by the following guidelines: Road Manual: Soils Section, Geology, Geotechnics and Pavements Section, The National Building Code in its regulations CE.010 Urban Pavements, with these standards we can determine the thicknesses and road sections for the pavement to be designed and with that the road section. The previous studies and for the design of the pavement gave us the following results: the soil characteristics of the subgrade are ML-CL, CL, MH and CH according to the SUCCS classification and an average CBR of 5.35%; these data were provided by the soil mechanics study and also the traffic analysis provided us with the number of equivalent axle repetitions (8.2 tn) being the design ESAL for flexible pavement 116,123.00 and for the rigid pavement an ESAL 117,697.00. After processing the data using the CE.010 standards and the AASHTO Method 93 for the structural design of flexible pavement, gave us as thicknesses of 5.00 cm. of asphalt layer, 15.00 cm of granular base and 15 cm of sub base, and with a budget of S/ 4,909,505.01; for the rigid pavement a folder of tread of 15.00 cm and a base of 15.00 cm, with a budget of S/ 5,168,637.15; for the articulated pavement a folder of tread of 6.00 cm, a 4.00 cm sand bed and a 15.00 cm granular base with a budget of S/ 5,309036.34. vii Therefore, it is concluded that although flexible pavement has a lower cost, its resistance to the type of climate is lower compared to rigid pavement. Likewise, the rigid pavement will give us a better time of duration due to its characteristics and dimensions; with this we will obtain a lower cost in the maintenance stage.
