To determine the dimensions of the airways and their relationship with the skeletal and dental characteristics of subjects between 16 to 55 years old, Trujillo 2021. Materials and methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was carried out in which the dimensions of the airways and 12 skeletal characteristics and 6 dental characteristics were evaluated in 150 lateral radiographs of patients from the city of Trujillo. The descriptive statistics of all the variables were evaluated. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to evaluate the relationship between the airways and the skeletal and dental characteristics. Results: The mean size of the nasopharynx was 17.62 ± 3.4 mm while that of the oropharynx was 12.62 ± 3.41 mm. A direct relationship was found between the nasopharynx with the posterior skull base (p = 0.007) and with facial depth (p = 0.030); while there was an inverse relationship with facial deflection (p = 0.037). The oropharynx was inversely related to maxillary length (p = 0.016) and to the facial axis (p = 0.044). Conclusion: The posterior skull base, facial depth, facial deflection, maxillary length and with the facial axis were related to the dimensions of the airways (nasopharynx and oropharynx with dimensions of 17.62 ± 3.4 mm 12.62 ± 3.41 mm respectively), while that there was not with any dental characteristics.
