To establish if there is an association between alexithymia and eating disorders in adolescents at the secondary level in urban and rural national schools of Cajamarca in the year 2022. MATERIAL AND METHODS: An analytical cross-sectional study was carried out. In which a total of 302 adolescents from the secondary level of urban and rural national schools of Cajamarca who met the selection criteria were included; to which the data collection instruments were applied. Data analysis, to evaluate the degree of association between the dependent and independent variables, the Pearson Chi Square test will be used, using the prevalence ratio and the 95% confidence interval as a measure of association. RESULTS: It was found that 72.2% of adolescents who presented alexithymia also presented a risk of presenting an eating disorder (ED), in contrast to 27.8% of schoolchildren who did not present a risk of presenting an eating disorder. On the other hand, it is observed that 51.1% of adolescents suffering from alexithymia did not present eating disorders, compared to 48.9% who did not have any of the variables. In this regard, after applying the Chi Square statistic, which yields a significance of .000 < .050, the relationship hypothesis is met, indicating that alexithymia is associated with eating disorders. CONCLUSIONS: Alexithymia is associated with the risk of presenting eating disorder.
