This thesis deals with the analysis of the physical - mechanical properties of a mortar made of cement TYPE ICo and added with 3% and 5% glass powder, which is used in La Libertad for the use of a high strength mortar in masonry and waterproofing mortars that require high strength and for largescale buildings, when conducting research on the mortar, we focus on determining the level of reliability of the use of mortars in their different applications with the frequency of powdered glass , comparing results, which will conclude as an experimental project. Because in this study we will submit a group of objects, which are our cubic witnesses of mortar and fresh paste with laboratory tests with the compression equipment, Deformimeter, vicat needle, universal loading machine, among other laboratory equipment. Consider the analysis of by dosing in cement and sand ratio 1: 1.91 for a sample of 800 g., and a cement water ratio of a / c of 0.40 and 110 of water, having as a total material of 910 g. The compressive strength: For the witnesses evaluated up to 56 days the results were, for a standard design of 41.03 MPa, for an addition of 3% glass 41.03 MPa and for an additional 5% of glass 37.76 MPa. Flexural strength: For the witnesses evaluated up to 56 days the results were, for a standard design of 2.76 MPa, for an addition of 3% glass 2.62 MPa and for an addition of 5% glass 2.38 MPa. The shrinkage resistance of the mortar: For the witnesses evaluated up to 56 days the results were, for a standard design of -0.92 mm / m, for an addition of 3% glass -0.822mm / mi for an addition of 5% glass -0.770 mm / m. Mortar setting time: By performing this test we can analyze and corroborate a higher percentage of glass, the lower the penetration to a standard design 420 minutes, a 3% glass addition time decreased to 405 minutes and 5% between 405 and 390 minutes, for the proportions of water absorption that each design presents. With this we conclude that glass improves the properties and additional characteristics that may be harmful to them.
