Objective: the objective of the present study was to demonstrate whether we can find a correlation between the different clinical factors (body mass index > 35 kg / m2, history of chronic hypertension, family history of family hypertension, and previous history of preeclampsia) and the appearance of preeclampsia in patients attended at the Leoncio Prado Hospital. Material and methods: case-control study carried out in the 2018-2019-time frame. Regarding the population, 135 medical records were reviewed, in which only a population of 79 was selected, who meet the inclusion criteria, and these are only the sample necessary to meet the margin of cases. A if 270 medical records were also reviewed, which were not diagnosed with preeclampsia, which correspond to the group of Controls. Of these, only 178 were selected, being only those necessary according to the established formula, for the present study. Results: In the data analysis we found statistically a relationship between the family history of chronic arterial hypertension [p=0,008 OR (IC 95%): 2,10 (1,20 - 3,67)] and the history of previous preeclampsia [p= 0,000 OR (IC 95%): 6,101 (3,080 - 12,083)], with the development of preeclampsia. While the body mass index >35 kg/m2 [P=0,129 OR (IC 95%): 1,66 (0,86 - 3,21)] and the chronic arterial hypertension [p=0,083 OR (IC 95%): 1,77 (0,92 - 3,41)] are not statistically related Conclusions: The family history of chronic arterial hypertension and the previous history of preeclampsia are associated with the development of preeclampsia. While the body mass index > 35 kg/ m2 and chronic hypertension are not statistically related, being unimportant with the development of preeclampsia
