Introduction: The favorable opinion from a student about the specialty program that trained them is an important tool for the process of improving the quality of teaching. Objective: To identify the characteristics and associated factors with the favorable student perception of the second professional nursing specialty program at the Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego in February - April 2023. Materials and methods: An observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was performed with a probabilistic sampling. There was a sample of 158 students from the program who met the selection criteria. The dependent variable was the favorable perception of the program and the covariates were age, sex, working in the first level of care, specialty in critical care, and working in the Emergency Service. A previously validated modified questionnaire was applied, using virtual media for its presentation and data collection. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used and for the measure of association, the Prevalence Ratio (PR), both crude and adjusted, 95% confidence interval and p<0.05 as statistically significant. Results: The favorable level of perception was 80.38%, with the median score being 204.5 points IRQ: 114-250. A statistically significant and independent association was reported for the variables age (RPa: 1.06, IC: 1.04-1.08), working in the first level of care (RPa: 1.5, IC: 1.28- 1.75) and working in the emergency service (RPa : 2.09; CI: 1.65-2.63). Conclusions: The level of perception is predominantly acceptable, and there are factors associated with the good perception of the program.
