adultos.

The study population consisted of 240 adult patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. It was distributed in two groups: the first of 80 patients with cholelithiasis and the second of 160 participants who did not present the disease. Odds ratio and chi square test were calculated. Results: No relevant differences were found regarding the advanced age, gender, obesity, dyslipidemia, or arterial hypertension. Diabetes mellitus in patients with cholelithiasis was present in 25% and the frequency of diabetes mellitus in patients without cholelithiasis was 13%. Diabetes Mellitus was the only significant risk factor with an odds ratio of 2.20. Conclusions: Type 2 diabetes is a risk factor for the development of cholelithiasis in adults.
