To demonstrate that cholecystectomy is a risk factor for colorectal cancer in adult patients of the Province of Trujillo. Design: It is a retrospective cohort study. Methods: The study population consisted of 496 clinical histories of patients of the General Surgery Service, divided into 2 groups: with cholecystectomy and without cholecystectomy. Results: The average age of the patients was 40 to 59 years (42%), the total number of female patients was 327 (87%) and the total number of male patients was 169 (57%). In addition, the frequency of cholecystectomy was 58% (RR 9.06, 95% CI 5.58-14.72). Of the 10 significant factors in the multivariate analysis were kept as significant: cholecystectomy (p <0.001), Diabetes Mellitus (p <0.001), the history of cancer (p <0.001), the use of hormonal treatment (p <0.001). ), the body mass index > 30 (p <0.001).
