timpánico y digital axilar obtuvimos una buena concordancia (Kappa: 0,562);
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the concordance to determine fever among the three types of thermometry in children aged 3 to 5 years treated in the Pediatric Emergency Service of the Belen de Trujillo Hospital during august-october of the year 2019. MATERIAL AND METHOD: It is an observational, analytical, cross-sectional investigation, 72 patients with fever from 3 to 5 years old, of both sexes, treated in the Pediatric Emergency Service of Hospital Belén de Trujillo during augustoctober 2019 who complied with the selection criteria, whose body temperature was measured sequentially using axillary mercurial thermometry followed by digital axillary thermometry and finally tympanic infrared thermometry. The Kappa index was used to evaluate concordance. RESULTS: When comparing the results according to the tympanic infrared and digital axillary thermometry, we obtained a good concordance (Kappa: 0.562); While the results according to the tympanic and axillary mercurial infrared thermometry, the agreement was poor (Kappa: 0.360), on the other hand results according to the axillary mercurial and digital thermometry, a good agreement was found (Kappa: 0.458). CONCLUSION: There is agreement between three types of thermometry when assessing fever in children aged 3 to 5 years.
