Idiopathic facial paralysis is a problem that affects not only the individual due to facial asymmetry and psychological effect, with the objective of determining whether arterial hypertension and hypertriglycidemia are risk factors for idiopathic facial paralysis (IFP). Material and methods: It was an observational study of cases and controls in a sample of 486 patients, of which 162 had PFI and 324 did not present PFI, applied in the internal medicine outpatient clinic in the district Hospitals: ““Santa Isabel““, ““Jerusalem““ and ““La Noria““ in Trujillo, between 2018-2019. Results: Hypertriglyceridemia as an exposure factor for PFI obtained an OR=1.71 with a 95% CI of 0.72 to 4.05 and p=0.217. Hypertension as an exposure factor for PFI was estimated at an OR=1.73 with a 95% CI of 0.85 to 3.54 at p=0.127, masculinity in individuals with PFI was 35.2% and without PFI 34.9% with p=0.946. Conclusions: hypertriglyceridemia and arterial hypertension are not risk factors for idiopathic facial paralysis, likewise the covariates: sex, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes mellitus and obesity were not associated with the aforementioned paralysis.
