The present research work has been carried out in Av. Los Algarrobos is located in the Los Algarrobos human settlement in the district of Piura. The research was carried out in an applied and descriptive manner. The main and fundamental objective was to carry out the structural design of pavements using the AASHTO 93 methodology in order to seek to improve the walkability of this study area, for which different observations and fundamental tests were produced for the development of this work. The project contemplated the structural design of a flexible pavement and a rigid pavement, taking as references the guidelines established in the road manual of the MTC (Ministry of Transport and Communications), and in turn the design standards of the RNE (National Building Regulations) such as the C.E. 010 Standard of Urban Pavements as a whole, these parameters and standards were used to define the thicknesses and road configuration of the pavement layers. Among the main basic studies carried out is that of Soil Mechanics, from which a soil composed of silty sand material in a state of medium compactness (SM) was identified, characterized by a CBR index equal to 30%, which indicates a very good subgrade. In addition, after carrying out the vehicle count and the corresponding traffic study, an EE value of 2,772,571.65 was determined for the flexible pavement and for the rigid pavement design a total of 2,813,632.99. The final design of the flexible pavement involves a 5 cm thick hot-mix asphalt layer, on a 20 cm thick compacted base and sub-base with an estimated total budget of S/. 12,702,526.89 nuevos soles. On the other hand, the rigid pavement proposes a concrete slab of 20 cm and F'c equal to 280 kg/cm2, on a 20cm thick asphalt base with an estimated total budget of S/. 15,904,468.53 nuevos soles, with the Rigid pavement being the most optimal because it obeys the problems presented and also allows an effective management of the waters caused by the high rainfall in Piura
