OBJECTIVE: To determine if sex is a factor associated with mortality in patients with COVID-19 in Piura during 2020-2022. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Observational, analytical, retrospective study with secondary data collection through the use of clinical histories and the use of data sheet collection for the use of significance p<0.05. RESULTS: Exposure was considered to be male; Given this, a total of 32 records (33.33%) were selected, the average for the age detected was 50.37ª (SD: 1.32) and where the ages between 46 to 50 years had the greatest presence with 36 of the valid records. (Average: 48.15ª, 33.33% - SD: 1.53): a total of 50 records were reported for patients with a history of arterial hypertension (52.08%), of which 28 were for females and 22 for males, and we found a existing association for the female sex (p:0.04; Rpa:1.23 and IC:0.002-0.06).
