To determine whether in singleton, full-term pregnancies the amniotic fluid index ≤ 5 (oligohydramnios) is associated with adverse perinatal outcomes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cohort study was carried out in the Hospital de Belén de Trujillo during the period January 2017 to December 2019. The patients were grouped according to the presence of oligohydramnios, distributed among 112 pregnant women with and without oligohydramnios. RESULTS: In relation to the presence of adverse perinatal outcomes and the study groups, it was observed that the birth weight of the neonates of mothers with oligohydramnios was lower than that of the group without that condition 3226.59 ± 437.1 vs 3436.16 ± 393.68 (p < 0.001); the presence of meconium fluid also predominated in the group with oligohydramnios 12 (10.71%) vs 3 (2.68%) (p < 0.05); Apgar at minute < 7 had a higher proportion in the group with oligohydramnios 3 (2.68%) vs 0 (0%) (p = 0.081). CONCLUSIONS: The presence of oligohydramnios was associated with the risk of adverse perinatal outcomes, evidenced in our study in lower birth weight, presence of meconium fluid and an APGAR < 7
