An analytical cross-sectional study was carried out in order to objectify the association of the resident’s perception of the role of autonomy, the received teaching and social support in the current context. Materials and methods. The survey was applied to an eligible sample population of 78 resident physicians of a local teaching and public hospital, using the PHEEM survey, a previous validated instrument and the qualified perception of the degree of satisfaction of each physician with their residency program. Results. A true association was observed between the variables, with significant degrees of correlation between the perception of autonomy (0.271; p value = 0.004), the perception of teaching (0.304; p value = 0.001) and the perception of social support (0.209; p value = 0.025) and the level of global satisfaction of the residents before the pandemic, while the statistical association only of the perception of autonomy during the pandemic is lost, being significant the perception of teaching (0.246; p value = 0.007) and the perception of social support (0.191; p value = 0.034) in relation to the level of global satisfaction. In addition, the statistical difference between both moments, before and during the pandemic, was significant. Conclusions. The pandemic had an impact on medical education, evidenced in the decrease in the level of satisfaction of resident physicians in association with the variation in their perceptions about their role of autonomy, teaching and the social support they receive
