Issue Date: 2020
Institution: Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego - UPAO

Introduction. At present, Intraventricular hemorrhage (HIV) or germ matrix hemorrhage (HMG) is known. In our environment there are few published reports on this pathology. Objective: To identify which are the Factors Associated with Intraventricular Hemorrhage, establishing the most frequent in the Neonatology service of Hospital III-1 Cayetano Heredia 2018. Methodology: Observational, analytical and transversal study. Type cases and controls. In which, through clinical records, the factors associated with Intraventricular Hemorrhage in Neonates of Hospital III-1 Cayetano Heredia 2018 will be studied. Results: In the study the associated factor was found: maternal age ≤ 18 years (OR: 0.13 95% CI 0.16-1.11 and p-value = 0.063), maternal age ≥ 30 years (OR: 4.07 95% CI 2.21-7.47 and value p <0.001), male sex (OR: 5.51 95% CI 2.7-11.15 and p value <0.001), gestational age ≤ 28 weeks (OR: 2.15 IC: 1.84-2.51 and p value <0.001), newborn weight <1500gr (OR: 5.5 IC: 3.76-8.02 and p value <0.001), cardiopulmonary resuscitation at 84.8% and a p value <0.001 and type of ventilatory assistance 84.8% and a p value <0.001 And as a protective factor: cesarean delivery (OR: 0.06 CI: 0.03-0.13 and p value <0.001), steroid use (OR: 1.2 IC: 1.5-7-7 and p value <0.002), Conclusions. It was identified as factors associated with neonatal intraventricular hemorrhage: maternal age, male gender, gestational age <28 weeks, newborns with birth weight <1500gr, decreased APGAR <7, cardiopulmonary resuscitation requirement, and ventilatory assistance. And as a protective factor: cesarean delivery and steroid use.
