The objective of this research is to give an estimate of the appropriate mesh size and computational time for each scenario in a 70-meter-wide channel using modeling. In addition, the behavior of several methods used in hydrodynamic models, which had previously been identified as the object of study, is examined. Modeling and hydrological studies allow obtaining results and evaluations on the behavior of a more realistic flow. In AutoCAD Civil 3D, the geometry of the channel scenarios was created, taking into account characteristics such as slope and roughness. In addition, it was considered that the flow rate would be: 100 𝑚3/𝑠, 200 𝑚3/𝑠 y 300 𝑚3/𝑠; the slope of 0.05m, 0.07m and 0.09m; and the roughness of 0.040. A one-dimensional scheme can be used for a channel, but a river requires a two- dimensional scheme. The energy equation, the Saint-Venant (2D) equations and the diffuse wave were used for this. The first one is for one-dimensional modeling, while the following two are for two-dimensional modeling. In this research, a numerical model was used to simulate and it was the HEC-RAS.In conclusion, for each of the 108 scenarios, mesh size and computational time data are obtained, as well as an analysis of each hydrodynamic model in the study, where both simulations are contrasted. In this way, their possible applications are evaluated, which depend on various capabilities, such as the meshing method, the boundary conditions in the data import.
