mayor
The objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between anemia and frailty syndrome in elderly people treated at Hospital Regional Lambayeque in 2022. A case control design was used for a population of adults over 65 years old with a sample of 153 participants. The criteria proposed by Fried were used to define frailty syndrome and the hemoglobin assay was used to define anemia according to the WHO criteria. It was identified that 43.79% of the participants had anemia and that those who suffered from frailty had a risk of 5.8 times [95% CI: 2.6 - 14.7] of having anemia. It was found that anemia, immobility, malnutrition, constipation, polypharmacy and arterial hypertension were independent risk factors for frailty syndrome in older people. In conclusion, anemia is a risk factor for suffering frailty syndrome in older adults
