p=0.00), el conocimiento del medicamento (OR: 2.15, IC95: 1.77-2.62, p=0.00). y
acudir a consultorio externo (OR: 10.45, IC95: 3.04-35.98, p=0.00).
To determine the factors associated with adherence to insulin therapy in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at the Private Hospital of Peru, Piura in 2020. Methods: An observational, analytical, prospective, cross-sectional study was carried out. The study population consisted of 155 patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus from the Private Hospital of Peru who met the selection criteria. Which were divided into those who had adherence and did not have adherence to treatment with insulin therapy. Results: 35.8% of the patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus had adherence to treatment with insulin therapy while 64.2% did not have adherence. A significant association was found between having an adverse reaction and adherence to insulin therapy in patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (OR: 4.490, IC95: 2.23-8.40, p<0.01). Non-adherence to insulin therapy occurred in 73% of the patients who had an adverse reaction and 27% of those who had no adverse reaction. In addition, an association was found between polypharmacy and adherence to insulin therapy (OR: 4.027, IC95: 2.02-8.04, p=0.00), knowledge of the medication (OR: 2.15, IC95: 1.77-2.62, p=0.00). and go to an outpatient clinic (OR: 10.45, IC95: 3.04-35.98, p=0.00). Conclusions: Having an adverse effect, polypharmacy, attending outpatient clinic appointments and having knowledge about the medication are factors related to the adherence of insulin therapy in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at the Private Hospital of Peru, Piura in the year 2020.
