Objective: To determine the periodontal status in relation to the nutritional status in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Material and Method: This study was observational, wich was evaluated in 63 adult patients with diabetes mellitus. To evaluate the periodontal status , the community periodontal index and a scale with a height rod to assess the nutritional status. In this study , the Sperman correlation coefficient was used, considering the value of p=0.05 Results In adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, there is no relationship between periodontal status and nutritional status p .762 . T e most prevalent codes in adult patients it type 2 diabetes mellitus ere 3 and 4 bags greater and less t an 5.5 mm . n addition it respect to nutritional status t e female se presented a mean of 25.1 3.1 while, the male se presented a mean of 26.3 3. ere t ese values represent over eig t patients. ile according to age t e group under 6 years old presented a mean of 25.5 2.8 i e ise t e group 6 years and older ad a mean of 25.3 3.6 . According to age group and sex, there is no relationship between periodontal status and nutritional status in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Conclusions: It is concluded that There is no relationship between periodontal status and nutritional status in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The most prevalent codes in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were, 3 and 4 (pockets greater and less than 5.5 mm).
