The study addresses the effect of COVID-19-related anxiety on the psychological well being of university students. A substantive, non-experimental, descriptive-correlational methodology was used. 395 students from a university located in Trujillo participated, to whom the Coronavirus Anxiety Scale (CAS) and the Psychological Well-being Scale (BIEPS-A) were applied, with special attention to aspects such as autonomy, self acceptance, ties psychosocial and personal projects. The results revealed a moderate negative correlation (-0.483) between COVID-19 anxiety and psychological well-being, indicating that an increase in anxiety is associated with a decrease in psychological well being. It was found that the majority of students presented medium levels of both anxiety (57%) and psychological well-being (57%). Furthermore, negative correlations were identified between anxiety and all dimensions of psychological well-being evaluated. This study highlights the significant impact of the pandemic on the mental health and highlights the need to implement psychological support strategies in the educational field
