The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the practices of the nurse in the care of the central venous catheter (CVC), in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Hospital Jaén, 2023. For this purpose, it was developed In a non-experimental, cross-sectional and correlational study, 45 nursing professionals from the ICU area were surveyed, to whom two questionnaires were applied, one on knowledge about CVC care and another about the practices they carry out in CVC care. The information collected was analyzed with the SPSS 28 program, in which frequencies and percentages were determined, in addition to applying the Chi-square test for statistical significance. As a result, it was evident that 71.1% had a high level of knowledge and 28.9% had a medium level; in terms of practices, these were adequate in 73.3% and moderately adequate in 28.9%. The global analysis shows that the level of knowledge is significantly related to practices (p=0.001), where 78.8% of nurses who carry out adequate practice also had a high level of knowledge. Therefore, it is concluded that a high level of knowledge significantly increases the probability of adequate practice in CVC care.
