The purpose of this was to analyze the behavior of the soils in the Ramón Castilla neighborhood for the construction of single-family homes in the City of Otuzco - La Libertad Region, thus convincing the residents of the sector how important the soil study is, giving better quality to the structure, the inhabitants will no longer worry about the cracks presented in their structure, they will only have to invest economically to repair their structures. The methodology was based on the study of the regulations and their current technical specifications. In this way, the soil study of the respective area was carried out, through analysis and evaluation of field and laboratory tests, in the same way the characteristics of the soil within the active depth will be determined and from them, the parameters necessary for the design and construction of the aforementioned project, these parameters are: Depth and Type of Foundation, Allowable Bearing Capacity, settlement of the land adopted as foundation soil, general design and construction guidelines in relation to soils. As an instrument, the type of research was thought: Descriptive. Soil samples have been taken in six pits and finally, tests were carried out such as granulometry by sieving, liquid and plastic limit, moisture content, relative specific weight of solids and total soluble salts. Some conclusions are: given the nature of the ground to be founded and the possible magnitudes of the loads transmitted, it is concluded to use a shallow foundation, such as Strip Foundation and/or Square Foundation. And also that the soil stratum that forms part of the contour where the foundation will be placed contains moderate concentrations of sulfates, total soluble salts, and chlorides, which could attack the concrete and reinforcement of the foundation. Therefore, it is recommended to use Type MS cement.
