Objective: To determine the ultrasound is valid in predicting the failure of treatment of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip. Method: Analytical, observational, retrospective, transversal sectional study of diagnostic tests in patients with Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip treated in the specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital in the period 2013 - 2017. The sample, obtained by formula, it was 124. Results: The average age was 4.29 ± 1.6 months, mean gestational age 36.4 ± 2.69; 63.7% belonged to the female gender; 87.1% came from the urban environment. The treatment failure rate was 21.8%. The parameter of total displacement of the femoral head <30 ° suggested high sensitivity ( 81.48%, IC95%: 64.98-97.99) and specificity ( 83.51%, 95% CI: 75.60-91.41) . The positive predictive value was 57.89% ( 95% CI: 40.88-74.91) and the negative predictive value 94.19% ( 95% CI: 88.66-99.71) . Conclusions: The total displacement of the femoral head <30 ° suggested to be valid for the prediction of the failure of the treatment of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip. It is suggested to take it into account in medical practice in isolation and be included in larger investigations.
