Objective: To demonstrate if polycystic ovarian syndrome is a risk factor for endometrial hyperplasia at Hospital Belén de Trujillo. Material and Methods: An analytical, observational, retrospective, case-control study was conducted. The study population consisted of 168 women between 15 and 45 years of age; Who were divided into 2 groups: with endometrial hyperplasia or without endometrial hyperplasia. Results: There were no significant differences in relation to age, degree of parity and origin among women in both study groups. The frequency of polycystic ovarian syndrome in patients with endometrial hyperplasia was 10/42 = 24%. The frequency of polycystic ovarian syndrome in patients without endometrial hyperplasia was 13/126 = 10%. Polycystic ovary syndrome as a risk factor for endometrial hyperplasia with an odds ratio of 2.7 which was significant (p <0.05). Conclusions: Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a risk factor for endometrial hyperplasia at Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
