Objective: To determine if polypharmacy is a factor associated with nonadherence in patients with chronic heart failure in the Hospital Belen de Trujillo, 2018. Material and methods: The study was of transversal analytical type. The sample consisted of 136 patients with chronic heart failure, the data collection card and the Morinsky Green test were used. The Chi square test, the Odds ratio and the logistic regression were used. At every moment of the investigation the criteria of scientific rigor and ethical principles were taken into account. Result: The proportion of polypharmacy was 74.51% in the group of patients without therapeutic adherence while it was 30.59% in the group with therapeutic adherence; difference that was significant. Patients with polypharmacy have 6.6 times the risk of non-adherence in chronic heart failure compared to patients without polypharmacy and with a calculated Chi-square value of 24.68 between both variables, the mi mes that were significant (p˂005). Conclusions: Polypharmacy is a factor associated with non-adherence in patients with chronic heart failure in the Hospital Belen de Trujillo.
