Objective: To establish if the ultrasound and mammography are effective for the diagnosis of breast cancer in the mixed - raced woman treated at the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital in the period 2009-2014. Methods: Analytical, observational, retrospective study, type of diagnostic tests. The study population included all mixed - raced women with anatomo-pathological results of benign or malignant breast pathology (Cancer or Non-cancer), which included mammography or ultrasound studies performed during the years 2009 - 2014 at the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital. . There were 529 patients, of whom 330 reports of mammography studies and 264 reports of sonographic studies were obtained. Results: Mammography has a sensitivity of 60.8% and a specificity of 93% for the diagnosis of breast cancer in mixed-race women and ultrasound has a sensitivity of 75.9% and a specificity of 56.1% for the diagnosis of breast cancer in mixed – raced women treated in the Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray in the period 2009 - 2014. The most frequent type of cancer in mestizo women was the ductal type with 67.9%. Conclusion: Mammography is not effective for the diagnosis of breast cancer in mixed - raced women treated at the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital during the period 2009 - 2014. It is effective in the age group of 41 - 50 years with a sensitivity of 65% and a specificity of 92.30%. Ultrasound is not effective for the diagnosis of breast cancer in mixed – raced women treated at the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital during the period 2009 - 2014.
