variable.
Objective: To determine the association between the abnormal value of maternal hemoglobin and the risk of developing fetal death in the Hospital “Regional Docente De Trujillo” (HRDT) in the period January 2005 - January 2015. Material and Methods: This was an observational and retrospective analytical study of cases and controls at the HRDT in the period January 2005 - 2015. Including a total of 102 cases and 204 controls, the association was found using the Odds ratio and the Chi square to find the statistical significance with a p <0.01 Results: A prevalence of gestational anemia was found in the case group of 30.3% and 15.8% for the control group, with a statistically significant association between both variables (P <0.01) and an Odds Ratio of 2.3 (CI 99%). Likewise, moderate / severe anemia showed a statistically significant association (P <0.01) with an Odds Ratio of 27.1 (CI 99%). However, there was no statistically significant association between mild anemia and the diagnosis of fetal death (P> 0.05). The frequency of erythrocytosis (≥ 14.5 gr/dl) in the group of pregnant women with the diagnosis of fetal death and in the control group was 4.2% and 1.2% respectively, but no statistically significant association was found (p> 0.05). Conclusions: Gestational anemia constitutes a risk factor for fetal death, with an Odds Ratio of 2.3 and a statistical significance of p <0.01. Moderate / severe anemia being the one that presents a statistically significant association with this variable. Gestational erythrocytosis (≥ 14.5 gr / dl) showed no statistically significant association with the diagnosis of fetal death (p> 0.05)
