The development of this research arises because of the problem we are facing today in times of summer when rainfall occurs in the upper basins increased flow in rivers that are modified by the own river dynamics of each river, which in turn endangers the hydraulic structures that are within the channel, planificándose and constructed jetties and riprap to protect these structures and flood prone agricultural land. In addition it is the pillars of the bridges are structural elements found in the riverbed. For which it has been conducted an experimental study in order to visualize and analyze the phenomena of river erosion, scour, material transport and deposition against placing these protective elements. Performing various tests of hydraulic behavior to check the efficiency of the breakwaters depending on the type and form, raising the cases as appropriate and make a comparison to see that espigón is more efficient and provides more security, considering variables such as the separation of groynes and angle tilt the axis of the riverbed at time intervals of 5 minutes to 40 minutes. On the other hand we also analyze the behavior of the pillars of two typical sections which streamlines the look, boundary layer phenomenon of vortices, the process of erosion and sedimentation. The breakwaters were analyzed two: straight type and L-type, which was observed that having better performance against erosion and scour is type L.
