The objective of the present study was to determine the presence of residues of the enrofloxacin antibiotic in chicken meat sold in the La Hermelinda market of Trujillo district, Trujillo province, La Libertad, Peru. The methodology used in this project was through the ELISA test and 25 samples of chicken meat (breast) were used, which were collected over 25 days; the samples were frozen to subsequently measure enrofloxacin levels with the indicated method. The results obtained indicate the presence of the antibiotic in 56% of the samples and in 44% of them, no residues were detected. The levels varied in a range from 0.00 μg/kg. To 41.20 μg/kg However, the detected residues are within the maximum limit allowed by the sanitary norm of veterinary drugs in foods for human consumption, which specific for meat of 100 μg/kg. Technical Health Standard N°120–MINSA/DIGESA–V.01. It is concluded that despite finding enrofloxacin residues in chicken breast meat, these are within the safety limit for human food.
