With the aim of determine the effect of glutamine and glutamic acid added on the diet of post weaned piglets, on the histology of the intestine, were used 12 fattening pigs genetically improved, were weaned at 21 days of age and evaluated at 7 and 22 days after weaning. Piglets were distributed through a complete randomized design with two treatments: TGA (treatment with addition of glutamine and 0.6% glutamic acid) and TCO (control treatment) and three replicates per treatment. The diets were formulated to meet the nutritional requirements of the animals at this stage. The results were analyzed using the averages compared by the Duncan test. The differences were significant (P<0.01) between measurements of villi height, crypt depth, intestinal tissue thickness and villus / crypt ratio, of TGA and TCO, at 7 and 22 days after weaning. These results allowed to conclude that the use of glutamine and glutamic acid in the diets of the weaner pigs improves intestinal integrity.
