To identify factors associated with cerebrovascular disorder in patients of Jose Cayetano Heredia EsSalud Hospital – Piura from 2013 to 2014. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The present study is an observational, retrospective, descriptive, transversal and epidemiology, specifically designed as a transversal. Every patient 18 years or older with clinical and radiological criteria of a cerebrovascular disorder occurred between 2013 and 2014, has been hospitalized in the services of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Internal Medicine and/or Intensive – Intermediates Care Unit of Jose Cayetano Heredia EsSalud Hospital – Piura, which is not brewing, or has suffered some traumatic brain injury in the last 6 months. The units of analysis were the medical records of hospitalization. The sample is found by the formula for proportions, yielding a total of 246 patients, which was given an allowance for losses, becoming 280 patients at the end. A probabilistic sampling of simple random type and quotas was then applied. For analysis Microsoft Office Word and Excel was used in addition to the nonparametric chi square test, and during processing 12 records were lost, culminating with a sample of 268 patients. RESULTS: It was determined that 46.27% of the population was between 61 and 80 years. We found that cerebrovascular disorder is more prevalent in men with 57.09%. The most common type of cerebrovascular disorder was ischemic with 60.82%. The most common subtype of ischemic cerebrovascular disorder was the atherothrombotic infarction with 60.74%, while the most frequent subtype of hemorrhagic was intracranial hemorrhage with 72.38%, and the latter were more often hypertensive hemorrhage with 49.52%. It was found that there is statistical significance (p less than 0.001) to relate the type of cerebrovascular disorder associated with the following factors: age, sex, body mass index, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolemia, coagulopathy and hypercoagulable disorders, polycythemia, smoking, alcoholism, chronic kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease and dementia. While relating the type of cerebrovascular disorder with hypertriglyceridemia found a p = 0.10, and relate to levels of fibrinogen found a p = 11 0.47, so it follows that these two factors are not associated with the type of cerebrovascular disorder. Was found that the most common factor associated with both ischemic and hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disorder was arterial hypertension with 79.75% and 80%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: There is a statistically significant relationship between the type of cerebrovascular disorder and the following associated factors: age, sex, body mass index, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolemia, coagulopathy and hypercoagulable disorders, polycythemia, smoking, alcoholism, chronic kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease and dementia. The main factor associated with both ischemic and hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disorder was arterial hypertension.
