In this research work it has been done the study of one of the oldest buildings of the Private University Antenor Orrego (Pavilion D) of the district of Trujillo, province of Trujillo, region of La Libertad, in order to determine the seismic vulnerability of this building and in order to encourage mitigation actions prior to a seismic event, so as not to endanger the lives of the students and the personnel working, in accordance with the RNE (NTE.030). In this way a methodology is presented that assesses the level of damage that can be reached in case of an eventual earthquake. The models to be used consist of qualitative and quantitative methods. The first ones mentioned are those of Benedetti and Pretini (Italy) and Hirosawa (Japan), which estimate a vulnerability index calculated according to the characteristics of the structure that most influence its behavior seismic, and relates it to an index of damage, which in turn depends on the action of seismic motion. For the application of these methods, forms were used which were adapted according to the reality of our research and which will serve as reference to be used in other similar research to ours. In the analysis of the structure by the method of Benedetti and Pretini it has been demonstrated that the building is vulnerable and that, for the reasons of a better interpretation of t he results, it was decided to define the ranges of vulnerability, in consequence, our final result was an Iv of 34.37 that fitted in the range of the Medium Vulnerability. For the qualitative method of Hirosawa results were obtained for each floor and in both directions, appearing in the first two floors vulnerable in both directions and in the third floor only proved safe in the direction Y, while in the fourth floor showed safety in both according to the analysis done by this method.
