With the aim of evaluating different levels of crude protein and the use of digestible amino acids and the little information on the use of diets reduced in protein with ideal protein profile in the diet of laying hens on the productive behavior, economic benefit and nitrogen excretion in stool, we used 96 hens from 30 to 36 weeks of age of the Hisex Brown line housed in cages of six birds each and distributed through a randomized block design (DBA) in four treatments and four repetitions. The hens were fed diets based on national corn and soy cake and supplemented with synthetic amino acids, formulated at 13, 14, 15 and 16% crude protein with similar levels of digestible amino acids: lysine 0.800% (100), methionine + cystine 0.780% (98), threonine 0.610% (76), tryptophan 0.190% (24) and valine% 0.740 (93). The variables evaluated were egg production, egg weight, egg mass, feed intake, feed conversion, economic benefit and nitrogen concentration in excrete. The results were analyzed through regression analysis of variance. The productive indices found as average of the treatments in the whole evaluated period, did not show significant variation (P> 0.05), which means that formulations with different protein levels and addition of digestible amino acids are feasible to be used. The economic benefit improved and the nitrogen excretion was reduced with the lower levels of crude protein in the diet. Concluding that it is feasible to use diets with lower PB levels, since attending the requirement of digestible amino acids.
