This thesis aims to help improving the universe of information that exists for channel design; as well as the modeling of an optimum hydraulic section that generates maximum conductivity based on the roughness used as channel bottom. In the construction of coated open channels, the importance of a suitable rough surface was demonstrated to maintain a uniform flow and with the needed hydraulic characteristics. Therefore, a methodology was proposed to evaluate the behavior of a flow rate in different surfaces taking into account their rough characteristics. Having as a typical soil channel a gravel surface, the behavior of its flow rate will be compared to three different surfaces: synthetic grass, boulder and corrugated bottom, in a channel of morphological processes in a laboratory. In this way, a comparative analysis will be made taking into account its hydraulic characteristics.
