To evaluate the clinical, epidemiological and immune- serological profile of patients initiating HAART Hospital II-2 Santa Rosa Piura for the years 2013-2014. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A retrospective, observational cross-sectional study of patients starting HAART for the first time over 18 years in the Hospital II-2 Santa Rosa.Piura was performed, the information was collected by reviewing the medical records of patients in infectology service. The sample consisted of 91 patients. Data analysis was processed using the SPSS V.19.0 program. RESULTS: The most affected sex was male, corresponding to 68.1%, while women account for 31.9%. In relation to the epidemiological characteristics the most predominant age group was 20-29 years with 36.26%, the group that dominated education level was high with 47.3%, lesions were predominant urban with 56% and with regard to marital status group was predominant bachelor with 45.1%. The most important route of transmission of infection is sexual, accounting for 83.16%. The 63.74% of patients had opportunistic infections. The clinical stage was the C3 predominate with 29.7%. For BMI group predominated in the normal BMI 60.4%. The main reason for starting HAART was the AIDS defining condition accounting for 70.3%. The predominant CD4 count was less than 200cell / mm3 (63.7%) group. The 2.2% have HIV and HBV coinfection and 5.5% have HIV and syphilis co-infection. Only 48.4% of patients claims to have used a condom always after the confirmatory diagnosis. CONCLUSIONS: There is a high percentage of patients who initiated HAART stage AIDS. Often the presentation of opportunistic diseases. There is a high percentage of infected patients not using condoms, showing that there is no proper awareness on HIV-AIDS.
