Determine if c reactive protein has value to predict mortality in severe sepsis at Jamo II-2 Tumbes Hospital. Material and methods: Retrospective, observational, diagnosis test study to plicate in 88 patients with severe sepsis. We calculated the sensibility, specificity, positive and negative predictive value. We calculated the chi square test and the area under the curve. Results: Protein C if you have predictive value for mortality in patients with severe sepsis, with the best cut of C-reactive protein and 15 mg / dl accounting for a sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value of 79%, 80%, 66% , 87%; respectively. The AUC was 0.83. Conclusions: The CRP provides the best predictive profile with high statistical significance for mortality in severe sepsis when taken as a cutoff value of 15 mg / dl. The calculated area under the curve gives intermediate accuracy.
