“Objective: To determine the consumption of energy drinks as a factor associated with the consumption of alcohol in third and fifth year medical students of the Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego in the period 2016. Material and Method: An observational, analytical, cross-sectional and prospective study was carried out with a total of 326 surveys carried out on students in the third and fifth year of Medicine, of which 214 students reported consuming energy drinks. Of this amount, it was determined who consumed Alcohol (n = 196) and those who did not (n = 18). Results: The total number of students consuming energy drinks was represented by 65.6% of the respondents,214 students, of which 37.7% were third year and 27.9% fifth year. Of the 326 students, 79.4% were alcoholic drinkers, 259 of whom 40.2% were in the third year and 39.3% in the fifth year. Of the surveys obtained, 60.1%,196 students who consumed energy drinks, were also alcohol users (X2 = 56.2 P <0.01 OR:8.46 IC :95%) Conclusions: The consumption of energy drinks is a factor associated with the consumption of alcohol in third and fifth year medical students. “
