Objective: To determine if diabetes Mellitus type 2 is factor associated for ovarian cancer in the Regional Institute of neoplastic diseases from Trujillo. Material and methods: Analytical study, observational type, cases and controls, through review of case histories of users of the service of Gynecology and the area's Preventorium of the Regional Institute of neoplastic diseases (IREN - North) . Included a total of 237 stories grouped in 79 cases and 158 controls; the Chi-square test was used for statistical analysis of qualitative variables, according to the design; and the type of association was determined using the calculation of the the Odss ratio. Results: The average age, found in the patients included in the study, was 55.3 in the Group of cases compared to 51.07 for the Group of controls. The frequency of Diabetes Mellitus in patients with ovarian cancer was de13.9%. The frequency of Diabetes Mellitus in patients without ovarian cancer was 5.7%. It was observed an increase in ovarian cancer risk in patients with diabetes mellitus OR = 2.67; 95%; IC: 1 060-6, 764 with a significance p = 0.032. Conclusions: Diabetes Mellitus is factor associated for ovarian cancer in patients of the Regional Institute of neoplastic diseases, increasing the risk in 2.67 times (p < 0.05).
