To determine whether maternal anemia is a risk factor associated with preeclampsia in pregnant Bethlehem Hospital of Trujillo. Material and Methods: An analytical study, observational, retrospective, casecontrol type is carried out. The study population consisted of 336 pregnant women aged 20-35 years who they were divided into 2 groups: with and without preeclampsia. Results: No significant differences between the study groups regarding the variables maternal age, parity grade and origin were found. The frequency of maternal anemia in pregnant women with preeclampsia was 23%. The frequency of maternal anemia in pregnant women without preeclampsia was 14 %. Maternal anemia is a risk factor for preeclampsia with an odds ratio of 1.90 which was significant. Conclusions: Maternal anemia is a risk factor associated with preeclampsia in pregnant Bethlehem Hospital of Trujillo.
