sometidos a Crosslinking corneal.
Objective: To verify the effectiveness of corneal Crosslinking in the treatment of patients with keratoconus. Design: Observational, longitudinal and retrospective cohort study. Methods: Clinical records of patients with diagnosis of keratoconus who underwent corneal Crosslinking treatment were reviewed. The analyzed variables before and after 3 months of corneal Crosslinking were visual acuity, keratometry and spherical equivalent. Results: We included 42 eyes of 23 patients; 19 (82.60%) were males and 4 (17.39%) females, mean age 18.87 + 3.07 (11-24) years. The visual acuity increased significantly from 0.64 to 0.68 at the third month of corneal Crosslinking (p = 0.01); 64.29% of eyes achieved stability of visual acuity and 28.57% improved at least one line of vision. The changes in keratometry and spherical equivalent were not statistically significant, although they showed a tendency to reduction. Corneal Crosslinking was effective in 80.9% of eyes with keratoconus. Conclusions: Corneal Crosslinking was effective in preventing disease progression through stabilization of keratometry and spherical equivalent after three months of the procedure. Nearly one third of eyes showed improvement of visual acuity after 3 months of procedure.
