“This study aimed to determine the relationship between nutritional status and oral health of the elderly who come to the Provincial Hospital of Virú, La Libertad in the period September - October 2015. The study was prospective, transversal, descriptive and observational and included A total of 166 older adults who attended the Provincial Hospital of Viru. A form of data collection and assessment tool, in which the information was collected oral exam (according DMFT) and nutritional status (BMI) was used. The results of the study population was not significant (p> 0.05) was found between oral health status regarding nutritional status. It was found that in the majority of the population oral health of 43% was severe and nutritional status 45% were overweight. There was significant difference in both the state of oral health and nutrition with respect to age. (p <0.05), but not by gender. It was concluded that oral health in relation to nutritional status in older adults who attended the Provincial Hospital of Virú, La Libertad had no direct connection, so it is advisable to plan treatment alternatives in improving the oral health of this population.
