In order to determine the biological and social factors associated with pyelonephritis during the course of pregnancy, case-control study was performed, studying two randomized groups of 88 clinical records of pregnant women each. The study group was formed by the stories of pregnant women had pyelonephritis during pregnancy and the control group for medical records of pregnant women without pyelonephritis, both pregnant that made the show in studio, they came to the attention of your prenatal Center Viru department of La Libertad Health during the period 2010 to 2014. Each of the selected medical records were reviewed by the researcher who withdrew from them the necessary information. For statistical analysis the Pearson chi square test was used, setting the significance level at P <0.05. It was found that: Biological factors: age 30 and older, grand multiparity, prepregnancy obesity were significantly associated with pyelonephritis during pregnancy. As social factors: illiteracy and working occupation (P <0.001). Concluding that the biological and social factors: age, parity, prepregnancy nutritional status, level of education and occupation are significantly associated with pyelonephritis during pregnancy.
