Determine if acute maternal pyelonephritis is a risk factor associated toprematurity at Tumbes Regional Hospital. Methods: Was conduced a analitic, observational, retrospective, cohorts investigation. The study population was conformed for 90 pregnant women accord to inclusion and exclusion criteries distributed in 2 groups: with or without acute maternal pyelonephritis Results: Frequency of prematurity in group with or without acute maternal pyelonephritiswere 22% and 7% respectively. Relative risk to acute maternal pyelonephritis in order prematurity was 3.33 (p<0.05); and this was significatively. Conclusions: Acute maternal pyelonephritis is a risk factor associated to prematurity at Tumbes Regional Hospital. No stadistical differences were meeting related to maternalage, parity and precedence between both of study groups.
