In order to determine whether hyperglycemia and leukocytosis are predictors of functional disability in patients with acute stroke in the Emergency Department of Trujillo Belen Hospital in 2012-2014; a study of analytical, retrospective, case-control type was performed. 124 medical records, 62 of which corresponded to the 62 remaining cases and controls were reviewed. In the group with functional disability 55% were men, with an average age of 65.2, 31% had hyperglycemia and leukocytosis with a 45% rate of high blood pressure of 39%; compared to the group without functional disability, 45% were women, with an average age of 54.2, 15% had hyperglycemia and leukocytosis with a 24% rate of high blood pressure of 23%. It was found that hyperglycemia and leukocytosis are predictors of functional disability in patients with acute stroke with odds ratio of 2.6 and 2.5. significant differences in functional disability among study groups regarding age and hypertension were observed.
