The purpose of the research was to determine the effectiveness of the educational program in reducing the prevalence of tinea pedis in adolescent patients attending the outpatient dermatology Essalud-Albrecht Hospital District Trujillo, 2014. The sample consisted of 53 patients diagnosed with tinea pedis who attended the outpatient clinic. The study type was applied pre experimental. Before the pedagogical approach the prevalence of patients was measured at the ages of 13 to 20 years with tinea pedis whose value was 5.63%; reliability of the instrument was measured by Kuder Richardson 20, the result of whose reliability was high figure was 0.80. The Pretest results regarding the level of knowledge, practices and attitudes to prevent tinea pedis and its complications were that 35.85% (19) showed a very Poor level of knowledge, followed by the regular level with 28.3% (15), with a 11.32% (6) showed the level is low, only 24.46% showed good to very good level. Post test results showed otherwise 69.81% (37) of them had very high level of knowledge, practices and attitudes followed by a solid level of 28.30% (15) and only 1.89% (01) adolescents have a regular level none started off bad and very bad level. Finally, the result of the prevalence after the educational program were 3.73%. It is concluded that the implementation of an educational program on prevention for tinea pedis and its complications decreased prevalence in 3.73% of patients aged 13-20 years adolescent patients in outpatient dermatology Essalud Hospital -Albrecht Trujillo District, 2014.
