La competitividad y participación electoral en el Perú, periodo 2001- 2016

Abstract

El presente trabajo de investigación muestra cómo se ha manifestado el comportamiento electoral de los peruanos en los comicios generales celebrados durante el periodo 2001-2016. Para ello, primero se han establecido los niveles de competitividad según los márgenes de victoria registrados en las elecciones generales del periodo. Luego, se han determinado a los competidores relevantes, a partir del cálculo de la concentración del voto y del número efectivo de partidos. Posteriormente, se ha descrito la tendencia que ha seguido la participación electoral a partir del año 2001. Finalmente, se ha comprobado que los electores peruanos no presentan algún patrón de comportamiento que permita predecir los resultados de los comicios generales del Perú.

The following research study shows how electoral behavior has manifested in the general elections carried out during the period from 2001 to 2016. For that purpose, first the levels of competitiveness have been stablished following the margins of victory registered in the general elections of the period. Next, the relevant competitors have been determined upon the calculation of the concentration of vote and the effective number of parties. Subsequently, the tendency that has followed electoral participation since the year 2001 has been described. Finally, it has been verified that peruvian voters do not show any pattern of behavior that allows a prediction of the results of the general elections in Peru.
